Rocky Mountain Elk
Carl Rungius was a American artist (born 1869; died 1959). During his lifetime, he was among the best-known painters of North American game animals.
He devoted ten years to painting landscapes of the Rocky Mountain scene.
The painting “Mountain Monarch” features Rocky Mountain Elk. The painting by Carl Rungius hangs on the main wall of the Hiram Blauvelt Art Museum’s gallery. This artwork is on permanent loan from the American Museum of Natural History.
